Our Mission Statement

1 Camera 1000 Smiles project runs photography workshops with young people living in rural villages in Bali.

We are committed to empowerment through photography and believe that by learning photography skills, young people are better able to express themselves, tell their own story and develop problem solving skills. 1 Camera 1000 Smiles endorses working towards equal opportunities using photography as a launch pad for creative development and social connectivity.

About the Program

The formulation of a curriculum, or handbook, that guides the photography workshops, is central to the project being able to be replicated and passed into local hands.

The development of a curriculum is also key to establishing a partnership with a 'sister school' in Melbourne, Australia. The idea is that this partnership will work on several levels: - to provide an opportunity for students in both communities to learn about a different culture and to make friends with students overseas - the sister school in Melbourne may be able to organise some fundraising for their sister school/village in Bali

By linking the project with a 'sister school' in Australia, 1 Camera 1000 Smiles hopes that budding photographers in these communities in Bali will have the opportunity to form friendships and connections that transcend national borders. .

Sharing and Inspiring provides a platform where everybody can share their field of expertise and knowledge. The project is rapidly building momentum. Up to this point we have been operating on "the smell of an oily rag" plus the dedication of a few individuals. In order to reach out to more villages, more towns and more countries we are seeking a "1 camera 1000 smiles team"
